Performance Opportunities for Singers and Instrumentalists

Performing is an integral part of the FSPA experience! Students apply skills learned in the classroom, find an exciting outlet for creative expression, and gain greater confidence onstage.

There are lots of opportunities to perform at FSPA! Highlighting an unparalleled calendar of music, dance and drama events, special opportunities for singers include studio voice recitals, opera scenes, acoustic coffee houses and musical theater showcases. FSPA presents four all-student productions each year, including a major book musical and an opera. Chosen annually to provide fantastic casting opportunities for students of all ages and levels, any FSPA student who auditions will be cast in these shows! Recent productions have included The Wizard of Oz, Grease!, Amahl and the Night Visitors and excerpts from The Magic Flute. In addition, FSPA's affiliation with the Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) provides opportunities to be cast, by audition, in FPAC main stage musicals, presented with professional orchestra.

For instrumentalists, chamber music groups are recommended and organized by the Music Department faculty for recital programs of classical music, while players interested in jazz, pop and rock are grouped for jam sessions, rehearsals and performance throughout the year.

Located just behind FSPA, THE BLACK BOX provides a professional setting to stage many FSPA performances. The flexible theater, with 360-degree catwalk and open floor plan, can be configured to suit the particular requirements and creative vision of different productions. FSPA students are fortunate to have THE BLACK BOX as a performing resource and for their arts learning and enjoyment!
