What Is FUTURE SHOCK?
Future Shock is a musical theater ensemble of children organized every year as a fundraiser for the ELECTRIC YOUTH Concert Tour. Future Shock takes part in the annual Broadway in Franklin Weekend in November including master classes with two Broadway stars and the opportunity to share the stage with them in November! Future Shock will perform in the EY shows in April and June, and in EY’s annual Concert on the Common in Franklin in August. Additionally, Future Shock members are assigned a big brother or big sister in Electric Youth for mentoring and fun.
Who can participate?
Future Shock is open to students in grades 1 - 7.
When are the auditions?
Future Shock Auditions will be held in conjunction with Humbug! Auditions October 17th at
THE BLACK BOX. Please sing one 16 bar cut of a musical theater or Disney. Makeup auditions will be held October 18th at 7 PM at FSPA. If unable to make either of the auditions, please make an appointment for a Future Shock Audition.
What/when are the performances?
Future Shock will perform at the Electric Youth shows on April 26 & 27 at THE BLACK BOX.
The second performance will be with Electric Youth at their Bon Voyage show on June 28 & 29.
The third performance will be with Electric Youth at Franklin’s Concert on the Common on August 2 (date not confirmed).
When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are scheduled at various times in the after-school hours and we work around FSPA class conflicts. Additional rehearsal time will be scheduled prior to the EY shows in which Future Shock will appear.
What is the cost?
A tax deductible donation of $595 is made to Franklin Performing Arts Company in support of
ELECTRIC YOUTH.
At least two tickets to the Broadway in Franklin Showcase and at least two tickets to each of the
Electric Youth show weekends are required.
What is the costuming for Future Shock?
Future Shock also wears EY’s traditional black and white and each ensemble member is dressed as an EY “mini-me.” Families shop on their own following specific guidelines and bring in options at a costume check scheduled prior to the first EY performance. Simple “out of closet” costuming will be assigned for
ELECTRIC YOUTH is an ensemble of talented singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts. Presenting the best of rock contemporary pop and Broadway music, ELECTRIC YOUTH and THE BOSTON SHOW BAND tour every year entertaining audiences here at home and throughout Europe. EY 2024 will tour Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Italy. Beyond the performances, EY inspires audiences, enriches communities, and connects with young people all over the world.
