Dance Ensembles
The FSPA Dance Company, Disney-bound CenterStage, and our junior dance ensemble Next Step are selected by audition in the fall. The dance ensembles meet on a regular schedule to prepare performance repertoire for FSPA presentations, outside invitations, and community performances. FSPA’s dance ensembles build upon students’ technical foundation and provide dancers with the chance to develop their craft and enjoy different performing opportunities. These exciting experiences create a dynamic community of students who are passionate about dance!
CenterStage
CenterStage, for students in Grades 9-12 (Grade 8 by special invitation) by audition, is FSPA’s Walt Disney World-bound dance ensemble, participating in Disney’s Imagination Campus program. FSPA’s annual spring trip to Walt Disney World is full of fun and camaraderie, with time to explore the parks, take master classes with Disney performers and choreographers, and perform a show on a Disney stage! A truly magical experience!
Next Step
Next Step is FSPA’s junior dance ensemble for students in Grades 5-8 by audition. Dancers enjoy outstanding training and performing opportunities, along with a special camaraderie that comes with being part of an ensemble.
FSPA Dance Company
The FSPA Dance Company, open to students in Grades 8-12 by audition, features the school’s most advanced dancers who enjoy expanded performance opportunities. The Company presents a dance concert at THE BLACK BOX in June, along with several showcase performances throughout the school year. Working with FSPA Dance Faculty as well as guest teachers and choreographers to present pre-professional pieces in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and musical theater genres, dancers can delve deeper to explore new types of dance or pursue a broader range within a particular discipline.
Travel opportunities for FSPA Ensemble dancers include FSPA’s annual New York City weekend, as well as field trips to performances and master classes. The February NYC weekend provides a full-on dance experience within the Big Apple’s vibrant dance scene. Students have the opportunity to see a show and take classes at the city’s top schools including Broadway Dance Center.
